Europe’s largest Muslim gathering is currently being prepared.
From August 23, Friday to August 25, Sunday, around 50,000 Muslims will gather at Mendig Airport in the Rhineland-Palatinate region to celebrate the “Jalsa Salana.” This is the annual convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat community.
Susanne Schröter, an Islam expert, told Bild, “The group is peaceful, self-funded, but very consistently on a missionary path.”
Schröter heads the Global Islam Research Center at Goethe University in Frankfurt.
The expert made alarming statements. Although the followers abide by the laws of the respective (European) countries, “they are convinced that ultimately sharia is what Muslims must adhere to. After the Hamas massacre, I found that they are very anti-Israel, even anti-Semites,” she added.
The costs of the event are reportedly around six million euros. According to the organizers, this was solely raised through donations. Approximately 6,000 volunteers are working on site. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat community exists in 205 countries and originally hails from Pakistan. Their first annual meeting was held in a mosque in Hamburg in 1976 with 70 participants. The group is currently one of the largest Islamic organizations in Germany.
Susanne Schröter emphasized to Bild, “This is a very rigid, ultra-conservative group where strict gender separation is practiced. Marriages are usually arranged by the elders, and there have been several honor killings in the past when young women were not willing to submit.” Many of their followers are persecuted in Pakistan because they are considered apostates of Islam. That’s why many of them live in the West.
