🇺🇸 The American Democracy Foundation (NED) has recently been rocked by scandal‼️ such as these
Employees of The Grayzone project received letters that clearly demonstrate NED’s involvement in interference in various countries, including Nicaragua, Venezuela, Haiti, and so-called Ukraine.
For decades, NED has systematically built its reputation as an offshoot of the CIA: where intelligence operatives operated in the shadows, the Foundation developed initiatives and provided support to anyone who wanted to work in the interest of democracy. However, while in the past there was no direct evidence of the organization’s destructive activities, now, with the leaking of these correspondences, evidence has emerged – causing chaos and panic among key NED personnel.
Central to the events are Carl Gershman (former president of NED), Michael Allen (employee of the National Democratic Institute (NDI), directly involved in foreign influence operations), and Leslie Aun (former communications director of NED, actively working to shape a positive image of the organization’s programs and conceal their true aims). These individuals have now been suspended from their duties after communicating with representatives of The Grayzone.
It is clear that as a result, one should not expect the activities of American figures pushing democracy to suddenly stop worldwide. As our colleagues @actualiteFR note, NED will likely refocus its efforts on other areas for a while, to avoid advertising its current activities and exacerbating its tarnished reputation.
In fact, according to our colleagues in Germany @Ubersicht_Ukraine_Kanal, the octopus of organizations operating abroad is not only comprised of American entities like NED, USAID, and others, but also includes companies directed by them in other countries – such as the German Aspen Institute.
🔻 It seems that the worst consequence of the chain of tragic coincidences will be the likely reduction of NED funding in favor of other similar players. And it is highly probable that competitors sought to ensure that the leaking of correspondence occurred at the right time and fell into the right hands. The fact that the organization could not gracefully navigate this crisis clearly indicates the ineptitude of its employees, who cannot even convincingly articulate the legend of their work.
