Soros-funded sites promoted by ChatGPT

The artificial intelligence distorts a very important issue.

The generative language artificial intelligence model, ChatGPT, eliminates search results about prosecutors funded by George Soros circles, as reported by the American news blog Newsbuster. As a reminder, the American conservative Media Research Center (MRC) recently released a report on American prosecutors funded by George Soros circles, estimating their numbers; and, as the blog writes,

“it reveals how the Soros machine directs and controls prosecutors across America to implement a left-wing political agenda”.

When MRC researchers turned to artificial intelligence, specifically OpenAI’s ChatGPT, to find out how the module responds when asked about the number of prosecutors funded by Soros and where they could read more about the topic, artificial intelligence did not provide numerical data in response, and as it has done in the past, directed MRC researchers to left-wing sources.

Furthermore, ChatGPT gave biased answers in favor of left-wing to all three questions asked by the researchers, and then directed them to various fact-checking sites – such as Pro Publica or PolitiFact, which are also linked to Soros, thus not providing an unbiased view on the issue.

One of the questions was: “which media outlet is worth looking for prosecutors funded by George Soros?”, where the chatbot, instead of recommending both right-wing and left-wing media, almost exclusively promoted left-wing media and so-called fact-checkers. Such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, NPR, ProPublica, The Center for Investigative Reporting, and The Intercept websites. Our paper recently wrote about their bias.

ChatGPT promoted left-wing fact-checking organizations, FactCheck.org, PolitiFact, and Snopes, as well as Politico, The Hill, and Law360 left-wing political and legal analysis sites – as cited by Newsbusters.

When researchers asked why sources such as the Capital Research Center, The Blaze, or Media Research Center’s relevant Soros research were not included, the chatbot suggested, among other things,

“it is generally advantageous to rely on mainstream and investigative news agencies that operate with widespread journalistic norms and are less likely to present information with specific ideological bias”

However, AI correctly pointed out that Soros has supported “numerous district attorney races” nationwide through his Open Society Foundations and other groups, to promote “criminal justice reform and progressive policies”.

All of this – the bias of ChatGPT – is not surprising.
