The renowned German newspaper quotes Szijjártó’s statement in the controversial oil case.
The European Commission may be behind the halt of Russian oil deliveries – Die Welt quotes Péter Szijjártó.
“The fact that the European Commission has declared that it is not willing to help ensure the safe energy supply of Hungary and Slovakia indicates that the instruction was sent from Brussels to Kiev to create challenges and problems in the energy supply of Hungary and Slovakia” – the newspaper quotes the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Saturday in Tihany in response to the European Commission’s refusal to mediate between the parties.
As the paper recalls: in June, Ukraine put the Russian energy giant Lukoil on the sanctions list. As a result, the Druzhba pipeline was blocked, and Hungary and Slovakia are largely cut off from their main oil supplier.
“Although the European Union has been fatally weakened by Brussels’ self-destructive policies in recent years, it cannot be so weak that it cannot protect the fundamental security interests of two member states against the mischief of a candidate country” – Szijjártó commented on the matter.
The minister also explained that in recent weeks the government has been working hard to ensure the security of our country’s oil supply in the short and medium term with various transitional solutions.
We are now very close to a solution that will guarantee long-term cooperation in oil between Russia and Hungary, as well as between Russia and Slovakia
– he announced.
