Unknown individuals sent a threatening email mentioning the Slovak presidential palace, parliament, and a railway station as possible targets for a bomb attack. Moreover, the email was not about just any bomb attack, according to the Pozsonyi Új Szó newspaper, “the message talks about the hijacking of three airplanes, aiming to target the mentioned buildings and facilities.”
The newspaper reported that the police and secret service have implemented strict measures in relation to the incident and are currently intensively investigating the case. The article also mentions that the email references the American terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Last week, hundreds of elementary schools, a cathedral, and the airport in Nitra were paralyzed due to bomb threats, but no explosive devices were found. In May, there was also a significant wave of bomb threats affecting nearly a thousand schools in the country.
Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok stated on a public television debate show on Sunday that Slovakia is working together with neighboring countries to identify the senders.
