Aki nincs velünk, az ellenünk van! – üzeni a Nyugat

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, issued a statement on Monday stating that the creation of the United Nations Group of Friends has come under serious criticism at the European Union foreign affairs council meeting, but Hungary continues to strongly support the initiative.

The minister reported at a press briefing following the EU foreign affairs council meeting that the creation of the Group of Friends has faced serious criticism from the participants of the meeting.

As France was also present at the inaugural meeting, many were restrained, but “there were those who said that they must fight against the Group of Friends,” Szijjártó Péter said, but he also emphasized that Hungary continues to strongly support the establishment of the group within the UN and is ready to participate in joint work.

“We believe that the statement adopted by this group, which states that territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the UN Charter must be respected, addresses all the criticisms that our European friends have previously raised on this issue,” he emphasized.

Szijjártó Péter also mentioned that the Hungarian government continues to resist pressure and strongly opposes paying six billion euros from the European Peace Facility to the member states that supply weapons to Ukraine. The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy came forward with a proposal to place this on voluntary grounds. He welcomed this and asserted that Hungary has long advocated that no one should be forced into a decision in which they do not want to participate.

Returning to the United Nations group formed in September, the Group of Friends came under attack from the moment of its establishment, similarly to other initiatives launched by countries defending or striving to defend their sovereignty against the mainly global South, or the Western world dominated by the United States.

For example, the prestigious Diplomat recently “unmasked” the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter (GOF) in a comprehensive article last week. As if it had not been known before, the newspaper listed the member states, and then noted the “alarming fact” that of the 18 GOF countries, 15 were classified into the “not free” category by the generously supported Freedom House of George Soros. This of course raises “questions about the real intentions of the GOF.”

And what is the revelation, the sensation?

That “the language and phrasing used by the GOF often echoes that of China,” and adheres to “dialogue and cooperation,” while rejecting interference in internal affairs. Or, as put by a “North American diplomat” quoted by the newspaper: the GOF’s position is that “everyone should mind their own business.” Moreover, the friendly group also rejects sanctions, which have likely never managed to overthrow any government, but can cause incredible suffering to the civilian population of a country.

So, the claim of the article is essentially that every country, government that seeks equality in dialogue in foreign relations and sovereignty in internal affairs and, in doing so, maintains the right to decide on “human rights” issues such as the assessment of migration or LGBTQ rights, instead of servilely submitting to the progressive-liberal standards dictated by the West and monitored by the Freedom House, is deceitful and dangerous.

The main threat here is primarily China, which encourages everyone to question the world order dominated by the United States.

This narrative is carried on during the criticism of the Group of Friends country group, not only in the West but also in Kiev. For example, Valerij Calij, Ukraine’s former ambassador to Washington, recently told RBC:

“China is forming an anti-America coalition. It forces the United States to divide the world again – two great leaders, each with their own coalition. This is what China thinks. Why did France and Switzerland observe the China-Brazil plan? I don’t know. The French do not want to be Americanists, and Switzerland is neutral. If countries like France start playing between China and the USA, it will be very unfortunate. I don’t think it will be like that. Europe will also fight to remain competitive.”

And the EU indeed fights, following the principle of “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” – but not to remain competitive, but to maintain the hegemony of the USA and the interests of the war-mongering globalists.
