A major announcement has been made by the European Commission.
The European Commission has announced a grant of 25 million euros (approximately ten billion forints) for Member States to support the voluntary return of unauthorized migrants staying in the EU – the Brussels body announced on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the funding available through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) aims to assist Member States in covering the costs of voluntary return for third-country nationals not entitled to stay in the EU.
The funds available from the EU sources serve to enhance capacity building to support voluntary return and assist those Member States whose return systems are under pressure.
The deadline for submitting applications for the grant is November 15 for Member States participating in the EU tool AMIF.
Reminded: the creation of an efficient common EU return system is one of the central elements of the migration and asylum pact. Voluntary return and sustainable reintegration are crucial for the common EU return system. Supported voluntary return and reintegration programs provide returning individuals with the opportunity to return home safely and in a dignified manner, taking into account the needs, expectations, and prospects that arise after their return. The EU return coordinator continues to collaborate closely with Member States in implementing return programs – they added.
