Political squabbles destroy families, neighborhoods, and countries.
Unfortunately, we are not only experiencing a lack of wisdom, but stupidity can often pose serious challenges. All this came to light in connection with a simple media report. It happened that in recent days, commercial radios repeatedly announced over the airwaves and thus into the ears of unsuspecting listeners:
“In Hungary, the air quality has reached a level that is not harmful to health, thanks to compliance with the recommendations of the European Union.”
There were many other news items as well, but none as logic-twisting as this one. Is the weather really favorable only because of compliance with EU regulations? Do natural weather conditions not depend on the season we are in, the strength of the sunlight, the cloudiness of the sky, or the foggy autumn? It would not even seem cynical if they added: It’s sunny because the EU ordered it. The situation is no better in America, as there is the saying that Hurricane Milton devastated Florida due to the machinations of Russian scientists.
Of course, human civilization contributes to the increase in air pollution, but the state of the atmosphere is fundamentally influenced by natural conditions. Or is it not? Starting from political “wisdom,” we can shut down factories, power plants, which allegedly pollute excessively, but is this really the solution?
The reality is that behind the regulations coming from politicians are the unscrupulous business interests of those in power. The absurdity of EU ideas is well illustrated by the case of the cucumber that once grew crooked, but due to a verdict, it can only grow in a “straight line” today.
Although we sympathize with the tragedy of the cucumber, it did not really tip the scales. However, the EU’s standards for healthy air are indeed cause for concern. Especially when politicians with overloaded expert groups rarely include minds that truly study the subject scientifically.
And why did no one among the news editors flinch when they read this startling news? Probably because, along with the listeners, they too have become tired of the absurdity of EU regulations. They are reshaping Europe at a pace that defies imagination, forgetting its past, rewriting its history, and filling prisons with teachers who refer to their students as girls and boys, and not – as required – “neutral individuals.” As resistance against stupidity dwindles, our daily lives become unmanageable chaos.
Thanks to the EU bureaucracy, Europe’s political scene resembles a circus arena led by talentless amateur clowns disguised as politicians. Amidst such comedy, it is difficult to laugh carefree, as our future vision grows darker. According to Friedrich Dürrenmatt, only comedy is suitable for our age: we have no right to tragedy. The whimsical insights of great thinkers, permeated with humor, are much less contagious on a societal level compared to the dizzying career of stupidity. When freedom of speech is banned in most European countries – on a limited scale, just like on social media platforms – how else can we better characterize our historical era than as a civilization’s parody? Human life is “for sale.” And the wholesale liquidation has already begun.
Those at the top of the EU do not seek our opinion, and they do not take into account the results of elections if they do not favor them. They deploy tools programmed according to their own political goals, referring to them as artificial intelligence. Today, these machines can replace forty percent of human labor. If the majority of humanity is already considered redundant by the masters of the financial world, while the population is not declining fast enough, then they provoke even more destructive wars to achieve their goals. Meanwhile, we, as free citizens, look out from an imaginary cage, worriedly waiting for some food to be tossed to us. It would be good to take a closer look at things, as we would immediately see that there is no cage or fence around us to prevent us from confronting that “small group” with a strong response, whose cowardice and stupidity surpass even their arrogance.
Why do we hesitate, European citizens? Is it because, due to Brussels’ machinations, we have little hope left of reclaiming truly healthy political air?
Another reason for our hesitation is the pandemic of internal disputes and contradictions that divide our strength and vigilance. Political squabbles destroy families, neighborhoods, and countries. Driving away common sense, we are willing to believe, accept, and embrace the propaganda forced upon us. We even fight for it, like a blindly accepted vaccine. Especially during election campaigns, anger against the other surfaces, so that, like lava – without EU standards – we destroy everything in our path. In this way, we ruin our own once livable world. However, in the wake of the quieting volcanoes, the solidified lava becomes excellent fertile soil as the spoils of destruction. Why couldn’t this be the true symbol of our era? Imagine that the storm has passed – because we decided so – and it is time to scatter the remaining seeds of normalcy.
Because, as Blaise Pascal said, there is nothing simpler in the world than a solved problem.
