According to Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should have never allowed the war to start, but the Ukrainian people must be helped – the Republican presidential candidate expressed his opinion on this in a podcast episode released on Thursday.
Donald Trump reiterated that if he were president, the war would never have broken out, and he emphasized that if elected president on November 5, he would resolve the conflict before taking office on January 20. He said credibility is needed for this and noted that he has a good relationship with Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a podcast hosted by former president Patrick Bet-David, Trump commented on the billions of dollars spent during the Biden administration, saying, “Zelensky is the best businessman I’ve ever seen, whenever he comes here, we give him a hundred billion dollars.” He added, “This doesn’t mean I don’t want to help them, because I feel very sorry for those people.” Donald Trump then noted that the Ukrainian president “should never have allowed the war to start,” and stated that “Ukraine is no longer Ukraine, nearly every city is destroyed.”
He emphasized that the war should have been stopped before it started, which would have been easy. He believed that the outbreak of the war was incited by the words of Democratic President Joe Biden, who should have said the exact opposite of what he said. “Putin is not an angel, but everything Biden said was a mistake,” Trump said, outlining the circumstances that led to the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
“Ukraine was the forbidden fruit in Putin’s eyes, and when he saw how incompetent our country, our president, and the stupid generals were in Afghanistan – which was the most shameful moment in our country’s history – Putin thought to himself, Trump is no longer there, these are fools, so I’ll take that fruit,” evaluated Donald Trump the circumstances that he believes led to the outbreak of the war.
