Through Poland fleeing perpetrator, Ukrainian initiation party, passing the blame, grumbling Germany. Just a few weeks after Orbán Viktor drew attention to the absurdity of the investigations surrounding the Nord Stream pipeline in his speech in Tusnádfürdő, the picture is already starting to clear up. According to the latest explanations, the Ukrainian leadership was unable to control its own military units, and the consequences could fundamentally influence Germany’s Ukraine policy.
“Allowing the explosion of the Nord Stream without a word, allowing Germany itself to ignore an act of terrorism carried out against its own property – obviously under American control – and not saying a word about it, not investigating it, not wanting to clarify it legally, just like we did not act correctly when Angela Merkel was eavesdropped on with Denmark’s help, so this is nothing but an act of submission.” The above sentence was spoken by Viktor Orbán on July 27th in Tusnádfürdő.
Interestingly, just a few weeks later, it seems that the clarification processes have already started, probably not unrelated to the Hungarian Prime Minister’s speech that caused a stir worldwide.
The Wall Street Journal has now revealed in a lengthy article the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. According to the latest “semi-official” interpretation, Ukrainian soldiers carried out the explosion with $300,000 in “private financing,” despite the fact that Dutch, German, and American intelligence services were aware of the plans accepted by Ukrainian President Zelensky.
The American newspaper claims that there was an attempt by the CIA to prevent the explosion, and Zelensky also changed his mind and issued an order to stop the operation, although if true, it was only verbally. However, according to the latest narrative, Valerij Zaluzsnij, the former leader of the Ukrainian army who currently serves as Ukraine’s ambassador to London, did not accept his boss’s orders.
Zaluzsnij, however, denied and called the reports about his involvement pure provocation when asked by the newspaper. The paper also notes that the Russians believe that the results of the German investigations are “at the level of Grimm fairy tales.”
According to the Wall Street Journal, at a 2022 “victory party,” the plans to explode the pipeline were first raised by a few Ukrainian soldiers. One of the later perpetrators did not even hide the fact that the goal was not only to make it difficult for Russian money-making but also to make the transmission of Russian gas through pipelines possible only through Ukraine – towards the West, including our country. In this interpretation, it is still possible to do business with the Russians, but only with the participation of Ukrainians.
Also noteworthy is that the American journal reports that during the now two-year-long German investigations, a lot of evidence has been collected about the Ukrainian action, such as emails, mobile and satellite phone communications, fingerprints, and DNA samples.
It is also interesting that according to Polish media, one of the Ukrainian citizens involved in the explosion lived in Pruszków near Warsaw, and part of the press even found him there. German authorities also requested the assistance of the Polish government in the case, but according to the liberal newspaper Die Zeit, the Tusk government itself cannot make a decision on the matter, as many consider the explosion of the gas pipeline a heroic act in Poland. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Vladimir S. has left the country through the Polish-Ukrainian border, as the Polish border guards did not hold him despite an international arrest warrant.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal notes that the results of the German investigations could have a negative impact on the relationship between Kiev and Berlin, even though the latter “provided the bulk of the financial and military assistance” to Ukraine. That is why there are German politicians who would generously overlook further probing into Ukrainian involvement, so as not to jeopardize Ukraine’s war support in the domestic public opinion. An unnamed German official even pointed out to the American newspaper that the explosion is such an attack that would be sufficient to trigger the NATO collective defense clause. However, all this would have to be taken against a country “that we support with massive weapon shipments and billions.”
The Wall Street Journal also points out the obvious fact that European gas prices skyrocketed after the explosion. Ultimately – whoever carried out the action – part of its price was paid by the Hungarians.
