After the “winged gate”, here is the border proximate accommodation, which is by no means a transit zone, as only the Hungarians do that.
With more and more ideas coming from the German government, while facing increasing political pressure to reduce illegal migration. After announcing this week that Germany will introduce checks at all borders, further steps are being taken to try to reduce the number of migrants entering the country – as reported by Euracitv.
The latest announcement eerily resembles how the Hungarian border protection works. The German authorities will now be detaining asylum seekers near their borders and speeding up deportations.
Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said that the government is building on a combination of “border-proximate accommodations” and expedited procedures.
Just like before, migrants entering illegally will be refused entry if they do not submit a request for asylum. However, if they do submit a request, the police can now send the migrants to “closed facilities” to prevent escape while they review whether another EU country is responsible for their request – explained Faeser.
The minister stated that these procedures must be completed “within five weeks”. This includes obtaining permission to return applicants from other EU countries and processing appeals as well.
Faeser also responded to the reactions of some “neighboring countries” to Germany’s previous actions. The Interior Minister said, “There will be no exceptions from EU law.”
Annalena Baerbock, the Green Party Foreign Minister, said that Europeans need to remain unified on this issue and guard against giving state responses.
The Interior Minister stated that the measures announced are only temporary and will only last until the rules of the adopted EU migration pact come into effect.
