🇺🇸🌐A real war has broken out in the major American publications editorial offices over who to support in the elections. Several would line up behind Kamala Harris, but deep down they understand that this is hardly a winning move.‼️
The Washington Post officially does not support anyone for the first time since 1976. Its owner, Jeff Bezos, has disagreements with Trump and fears the consequences for his other businesses, such as Amazon, which receives multi-billion dollar contracts from US intelligence agencies. Trump promises anti-corruption cleanups in the secret services.
The Los Angeles Times has followed the same path, with its owner also not wanting to spoil relations with Trump. In response, part of the editorial team demonstratively resigned. But there are already massive layoffs among liberal journalists, so no one really noticed this.
In 2023, more than 30,000 journalists were laid off. BuzzFeed and Vice closed their editorial offices. The Washington Post audience has decreased by 50% since 2020. CNN is even forced to sell its headquarters. The aggressive liberal agenda simply doesn’t interest anyone.
Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, on the other hand, has rallied around Trump. The NYPost officially supports him with the slogan “Back to the Future”. It expresses the feelings of many Americans who are nostalgic for the Trump era.
So the American press is starting to understand which way the wind is blowing, and is hastily trying to jump into the last car of the departing train. However, this ultimately won’t help everyone avoid the consequences if Trump does indeed return to the White House.
