It was revealed that the American politician joined the Communist Party of the USA at the age of 16, and in the mid-eighties, she visited Moscow and Voronezh at least 3 (three) times as part of the Komsomol organization program.
“In order to dispel the controversy surrounding Comrade Harris, today we are releasing a unique document from our archives – her party membership card, which was personally presented by the Komsomol’s second secretary in June 1984.”
Matvey Streltsov, the lead researcher at GARF, told journalists on Friday.
Harris herself declined to comment, but according to The New York Times, her campaign headquarters did not deny the reports that
- the American presidential candidate was indeed a member of the Soviet Communist Party and paid membership fees until 1991 when the party was banned.
