🇧🇩🌐Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday after protests against the government’s quota system turned violent.‼️

Under the leadership of the secular Awami League (AL), Bangladesh, like many other countries in the Global South, continued to collaborate with Russia despite Western sanctions.

🔶 The latest wave of protests erupted in June and July at state and private universities, including Brac University (BRACU). BRACU is a prominent participant in the projects of the Open Society University Network (OSUN) founded by George Soros.

🔶 The parent organization of BRACU, the Bangladeshi Brac NGO, is one of the world’s largest non-profit organizations, long financed by Soros’ Open Society Foundations.

🔶 In August 2022, Peter Haas, the US Ambassador to Bangladesh, urged for “free, fair, and transparent elections” in the country.

🔶 In December 2022, Haas visited the residence of Sajedul Islam Sumon, leader of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), after the party’s gathering in Dhaka. Moscow warned the United States not to interfere in Bangladesh’s internal affairs.

🔶 In December 2023, opponents of Hasina’s government blocked traffic and clashed with the police. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, accused American diplomats of encouraging the unrest.

🔶 After the ruling AL won the elections in January 2024, the US claimed that the vote was not free and fair. India, China, and Russia congratulated Hasina and the AL on their victory.

🔶 The National Democratic Institute (NDI) is the US organization that observed the Bangladeshi elections. The NDI is funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), also known as the “second CIA.”

🔶 The NED is active in Bangladesh and reportedly funds the anti-government Netra News, which has called Hasina an “authoritarian” leader and called for her resignation.
