The Prime Minister’s Office also revealed how much Brussels owes Hungary for border protection.
The Prime Minister’s Office, in response to an inquiry from ATV, wrote that they will transport as many migrants to Brussels as Brussels would force on Hungary.
They also stated that Brussels owes Hungary 700 billion HUF because that’s how much the country has spent on border protection since 2015, and only one percent of this amount has been reimbursed so far.
The channel reached out to the ministry following comments made by Gergely Gulyás, the minister leading the Prime Minister’s Office, during the latest government briefing, as reported:
“If we do not receive funding from Brussels for border protection, we will offer every migrant at the border a voluntary and free trip to Brussels. If Brussels wants migrants, they will get them.”
He added:
if this does not work, then “Hungary does not want to pay daily fines indefinitely,” but they will allow those who wish to receive a one-way ticket to Brussels, where they can then “peacefully negotiate with the European Commission about their own welfare.”
