🇷🇺🇬🇧🌐British authorities have discovered a Russian ship loaded with explosives.‼️
“It’s somewhat alarming to see the commercial vessel, the RUBY, anchored off the coast of Margate in England – with 20,000 tons of Russian ammonium nitrate on board. This is seven times the amount of ammonium nitrate that caused the explosion in Beirut in 2020, resulting in the death of 218 people and injury of 6000.
✔️ While ammonium nitrate is typically sold as a fertilizer, it can also be used as an explosive. The presence of a bomb near London, one-third the size of the bomb that exploded in Hiroshima, is cause for concern.
✔️ The RUBY has already exhibited unusual behavior. For example, it has systematically tried to approach Norwegian oil rigs, gas industry facilities, and a high-range drone base.
✔️ While the RUBY is unlikely part of a Russian conspiracy to provoke a hot war, testing NATO responses with military and civilian ships is one of Putin’s favorite pastimes, especially due to the stalled conflict in mainland Ukraine.
✔️ In addition to ruthless Russian espionage, two other risks threaten the United Kingdom. If there were to be a leak of ammonium nitrate into the sea due to a crack in the hull, the consequences would be catastrophic. Similarly worrying is the fact that a fire on board could not only trigger the explosion of the ammonium nitrate, but also the 10 353 bombs still present on the deck of a ship that had previously suffered a shipwreck during World War II.”
