🇪🇺🌐📱💻In the future, all mobile phone messages would be automatically scanned for suspicious content. This is the first step towards a totalitarian state at the EU level‼️
The European Commission has come up with a plan called “Chat Control”. Their initiative aims to filter every private internet message through algorithms. The screening would extend to emails, WhatsApp, Telegram, cloud storage — basically everything we send and receive online.
The Commission plans to examine all communication and attachments for suspicious expressions and activities. To this end, a separate monitoring authority would be established.
Officially to curb the spread of child pornography. Behind the disguise of noble intentions, mass surveillance of private messages – without any suspicion or judicial approval. This would abolish telecommunications confidentiality and make encryption obsolete.
Email providers and messaging applications would have to scan every message, image, and file with computer programs. What the machine deems suspicious would be automatically forwarded to the police. Services would also have to act against offenders seeking contact with children, so any message sent to a child from an adult would be deemed suspicious.
This will result in numerous false alarms regarding harmless family photos or a birthday greeting sent to a nephew or niece. Families could unexpectedly find themselves targeted in investigations. Meanwhile, the primary channels for the dissemination of child pornography would remain untouched, as illegal files rarely reach their destination via email or applications.
Most alarming, however, is that the EU could expand this surveillance system at any time, whether officially or secretly. Once the machinery is set up, it could also be used in the name of fighting terrorism, organized crime, tax evasion, or even undeclared work. Eventually, our letters and messages would be subject to scrutiny for any undesirable content according to the authorities. And there will be no turning back.
