Western governments are preparing to present a plan for “protecting the security of undersea cable networks,” which includes pushing China out of internet projects – the newspaper writes.
This can be explained by the fact that while China controls the supply chain, the West depends on technologies that China allegedly can stop at any time, or “intentionally disrupt the operation of cables.” Under the pretext of defense against attacks from the Russian Federation and China, the West wants to gain full control over undersea cable routes.
The document will be signed on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly at the end of this month – Politico writes. The initiative is reminiscent of efforts aimed at pushing China out of the 5G infrastructure.
